OBITUARY

Vincent Ciaramitaro

July 16, 1935May 7, 2019

Vincent “Enzo” Ciaramitaro died at age 83 at his home in Naples, Florida. He died of natural causes on Tuesday evening, May 7, 2019. His life was full of joy, laughter, food and love—especially for his wife, Terry, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his four siblings and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Enzo, as he was often known, spent his adult life in partnership with his father and brother running Joe’s of Avenue U, a focacceria in Brooklyn, NY. The restaurant became a landmark under the family’s management with what some say were the best arancini in NYC. Enzo’s passion for food and Sicily, where he was born, led to the creation of his website SicilianCookingPlus.com, a comprehensive guide to Sicilian cuisine, culture and joie de vivre. Prior to moving to Naples, Florida, he resided in Brooklyn, NY, where he emigrated to from Palermo, Sicily, in the 1950s. Wherever he went, Enzo loved to start conversations and share his deep knowledge of so many different topics. His smile was contagious; his love for his family enviable; and his generosity...boundless. He will be missed .
