

Irene Hancock, age 90, died on Dec 13. 2015, at her home. Irene was born in Newcomb, TN, to the late Ernest and Suzanne (Beard) Meadows, on Dec 13, 1925. She lived in Newcomb for 6 years before the family moved to Brooksville, FL. where she lived for 14 years and at the age of 20 she married her husband L.J. Hancock, then they moved to Miami, FL. in June of 1946, where he went to work for Eastern Airlines. After L.J. retired the family moved to Dade City, FL. on June 13, 1976, where Irene lived for 38 years. Irene came home to Brooksville 2 years ago, to live out her days. Irene was Baptist by faith and known by all who knew and loved her as a true Godly woman. Irene was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, L.J. Hancock, in 2001. Also by her siblings; James Meadows, earl Meadows, Robert Meadows, Glenna Goethe and Evelyn Wetherington. Irene is lovingly survived by her family; son Robert Gary (Carol) Hancock of Apopka, FL. Johnnie (Connie) Hancock, Colorado Springs, CO. David Hancock of Brooksville, FL. Donna (Blake) McMichen of Douglasville, GA. 8 Grandchildren and 4 1/2 Great Grandchildren, and siblings; sister, Helen Skinner of Jacksonville, FL. brother, Tommie Meadows of High Springs, FL. sister, Patricia Singer of Brooksville, FL. and brother Ronnie Meadows of Dade City, FL. Irene will also be greatly missed by her companion of the last 6 years, Wilbur Smith of Brooksville, FL. Irene’s family will gather at the Turner Funeral Homes 504 East Jefferson Street, Brooksville, FL. 34601, on Wednesday December 16, 2015 from 5-7 PM. The Graveside Funeral Service will be held at the Townsend House Cemetery, 17451 Townsend House Road, Dade City, FL. 33523 on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at 11:00 AM, With Reverend Fred Touchton, Trinity Baptist Church of Apopka, FL, officiating.
