

James R. Thurber, age 77, formerly of West Brookfield, MA., and a current resident of Lempster, NH, and a seasonal resident of Brooksville, FL., died on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at the Bayfront Health Care of Brooksville, FL. James was born in Worcester, MA., to the late Louise Thurber Adams, on June 23, 1937. James leaves behind his loving Wife Lynda of Brookville, FL., and Lempster, NH. Daughter Michele and Husband Wayne Clayborne, and Granddaughters Abigail and Hannah Clayborne, of Douglas, MA. Son, Joseph Thurber and Partner Kim Baligad, of Newport, NH. Stepson, Gregg Parrotto and Partner Savanah Howard of Claremont, NH. grandchildren, Evelina and Levi Parotto. Brother Bill Cass and Nephews, Branden and his Wife Beth, and Jeff Cass. James was a U. S. Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War, in Germany. He worked as a Lineman and Safety Supervisor for Mass. Electric. James was a member of the West Brookfield Volunteer Fire Department, served as an EMT and past president of the West Brookfield Rescue Squad for many years. James was the Past Exalted Ruler of the Windsor Elks Lodge of Windsor, VT., a member of the Newport, NH., Loyal Order of the Moose, West Brookfield, MA., an associated member of the Marine Corp League Detachment #708, of Spring Hill, FL. James loved to sing, dance, tip a Scotch or 2, kayak on Long Pond, but, Most of all, he loved to be with family and friends and enjoy life. A Celebration of Life for James will be held at the Marine Corp League Detachment #708 on Sunshine Grove Road, in Spring Hill, Fl., Sunday, March 8, 2015 from 3-5 PM.
