January 15, 1926 – June 25, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Cosmo Barile on June 25th, 2020 at the age of 94. Born January 15th, 1926 in Macchiagodena, Italy, he immigrated to Canada with his young family in 1964. After working in the construction field of Montreal for many years, he was pivotal in the full construction of one of the city's landmarks, Place Bonaventure. Cosmo enjoyed gardening, a friendly card game of Briscola, wine-making, and spending quality time with his family. Days away from their 78th wedding anniversary, he is survived by his wife Annunziata, his 3 children Incoronata (Nicola), Giovanni (Concetta) and Matteo (Nella), (Dawn Marie); his 9 grandchildren Domenica, Joanne (Yves), Cosmo, Laura (Patrick), Carolyn (Giuseppe), David (Melissa), Amanda (Lino), Mike (Angela), and Michael; and his twelve great-grandchildren Melissa (Nicholas), Vanessa, Leonard, Erica, Sienna, Eva, Joey, Matteo, Angelo, Luca, Sofia, and Gemma. Cosmo was a gentle, loving, and caring man with a gift for storytelling. He was the pinnacle of courage, the epitome of strength, a role model for his family and loved by all whom he encountered. He will be deeply missed but his legacy will live on in his family. Shine down upon us. We love you Pà, Nonno, Bisnonno, per sempre.
Visitations to be held at La Maison Darche, 7679 Boul. Taschereau, Brossard J4Y 1A2 on Sunday, June 28th from 5:30 PM -10 PM and Monday, June 29th from 10 AM - 1 PM. Funeral service at 1 PM, followed by burial at Le Repos Saint-François d'Assise cemetary.

Our deepest sympathy is extended to all members of the Barile family.
We have been neighbours for over 30 years and have many fond memories of Cosmo. His garden was always such a source of pride for him, and we would look forward to the delicious vegetables and pears that he would give us. He would also help us trim our trees! We will always remember his kindness and generosity. And the twinkle in his eye when he would smile.
Recently, it has been difficult for us to look at his house - it’s just not the same without him!
He will indeed be missed.
May the peace of Christ comfort you through this most difficult time.

We loved seeing Mr. Barile every year at reunions. We also had the great pleasure to taste his famous wine. The most striking detail about his was is that his smile could light up a room. He will be dearly missed and we will forever keep him in our hearts and minds.
Our most sincere condolences to the whole family.
