Porowski-Strakacz, Halina Maria "Ania" (1924-2020) C'est avec tristesse que nous vous annonçons le décès de notre mère survenu le 16 septembre, à l'âge de 96 ans. Elle rejoint son époux Kazimierz décédé en 1986. Née à Varsovie en Pologne, elle participa courageusement à l'insurrection de 1944 en tant qu'infirmière de terrain, sous le pseudonyme "Anka", et la Croix de Bravoure lui fût accordée par l'état Polonais. Après un séjour dans l'aviation polonaise en Angleterre, elle reprend contact avec Kazimierz qui terminait ses études à Bruxelles après avoir survécu au camp de concentration allemand. Ils se marièrent en Belgique en 1948 et immigrèrent au Canada avec deux enfants en 1951. Elle laisse dans le deuil son frère Stanislaw (Barbara), ses six enfants Stan (Kalila), Janusz (Sylvie), Tony (Anna), André (Leslie), Maisia (Jan) et Anne-Marie (Rami) de même que 17 petits-enfants et une arrière-petite-fille, parents et amis. Toute sa vie a été inspirée par sa foi profonde. La famille désire remercier chaleureusement le personnel de la Résidence Mont-Royal pour leur amour inconditionnel, leur dévouement et leur professionnalisme. Des hommages lui seront rendus à l'église St-Thomas d'Acquin (311, rue St-Thomas à St-Lambert, Qc), le mercredi 23 septembre à 10h30. La messe sera célébrée à 11h. She joins her husband Kazimierz who died in 1986. Born in Warsaw, Poland, she courageously participated in the 1944 uprising as a field nurse, under the pseudonym "Anka", and the Cross of Bravery was granted to her by the Polish state. After a stay with the Polish air force in England, she reconnects with Kazimierz who was finishing his studies in Brussels after having survived the German concentration camp. They married in Belgium in 1948 and immigrated to Canada with two children in 1951. Her life was inspired by her deep faith. She is survived by her brother Stanislaw (Barbara), her six children, Stan (Kalila), Janusz (Sylvie), Tony (Anna), Andy (Leslie), Maisia (Jan) and Anne-Marie (Rami) as well as her 17 grandchildren and a great granddaughter, relatives and friends. The family would like to warmly thank the staff of Résidence Mont-Royal for their unconditional love, dedication and professionalism.
