May 2, 1931 - May 3, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jean-Guy D’Amours at the age of 91 (and a day), on May 3, 2022, at the Charles Lemoyne Hospital.
A beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather, Guy lived a full life surrounded by the people he loved. He will be remembered for his quick wit, his kindness, his passion for sports (especially golf and hockey), and his love of spending time with family and friends.
Born in Edmundston, New Brunswick to the late Ernest and Philomène (née Dubé) D’Amours, Guy was the eighth of 10 siblings. He studied mechanical engineering at UNB in Fredericton, where he met his beloved wife of 66 years, Joan Marie (née Britt).
Guy will be deeply missed by Joan; his sister, Huguette; his children, Richard (Myra), Rosanne (Dan), René (Janice), Jacques (Gladys) and Claude (Eliane); his grandchildren, Jillian, Daniel, Craig, Kristen (Simon), Sean, Evan, William and Sabine; his great-grandchildren, Abby, Ben and Logan, and many other beloved relatives including in-laws, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
We wish to thank the dedicated staff of doctors and nurses at Charles Lemoyne Hospital who took care of him in his final days, when he remained quick with a joke and determined to finish his crossword puzzle.
We can still hear his heartfelt laugh. “Holy boy”, we will miss him dearly.
A visitation will be held at Good Shepherd Church in Brossard (7900 Ave. Naples) on Wednesday, May 11 at 12:00 (noon), followed by a funeral mass at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Diabetes Canada.
Jean-Guy D’Amours
Une visite aura lieu à l’église Good Shepherd à Brossard (7900 Ave.
