A loving wife, mother and nana, she will be missed in so many ways. Mom passed away at her home in Brossard, after a short battle with cancer. Julie is survived by her husband Cliff O’Donnell, her brother John Alchovy, her children, Tim (Doris), Pat (Jim), and Kathy; her grandchildren, Celina and Shauna; Emma, Clara and Devon; Jesse and Alex; and great grandchildren Elijah and Silas.
Julie was born in Montreal to parents John and Ann Alchovy (nee Potiuch). She married her “eternal love” Cliff in January 1958 and moved to Brossard, where they raised their family. Julie was dedicated to her family and was an active member of the Good Shephard Catholic church for many years. After taking early retirement from RBC in 1994 she pursued her passion in sewing and quickly got to work creating beautiful children’s clothing. With Cliff by her side, they spent many years selling her creations at crafts shows across Quebec and Ontario. Julie loved to travel and easily developed friendships wherever her travels brought her. She also enjoyed her home time, entertaining, creating a welcoming, peaceful and tranquil outdoor space, tending to her garden, cats, and any other outdoor creatures that happened to wander by.
Full of life, vivacious, quick to smile, with a witty sense of humour are words that describe our mom.
We love you, miss you, and carry you with us in our hearts forever.
Do not stand by my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep
I am the thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints in snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken with morning’s
hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand by my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.
-Mary Elizabeth Frye, 1932
