Alfonza Calderon

Alfonza Calderon Muñiz, our beloved mom, grandma and great-grandmother will be remembered for being the strong, firm hand in our family. She guided us through life and helped us in making appropriate decisions. She was always ready to lend a hand when it came to her children and grandchildren. There is no doubt that she dedicated herself to her beloved husband (deceased), her children and loved them all the same. One of her passions was raising and nursing plants. Our Alfonza’s garden was one of a kind. She enjoyed listening to music, reading her Spanish “novelas” and would not miss a day without her daily coffee. Though she is not physically present she remains in our hearts and we will miss her dearly.

Alfonza is preceded in death by her loving husband Felix Calderon; parents Andrea Morales and Santos Muñiz; sons Margarito and Antonio Calderon; daughters, Guadalupe and Juanita Calderon.

She is survived by her children, Felix Calderon Jr., Manuel Calderon, Roberto Calderon, Carmen Santana, Florentina Melendez, Onesimo Calderon, Gabriel Calderon and Irma Fernadez; sisters, Maria Tijerina, Efigenia Muñiz; brother, Isidro Muñiz; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 3, 2013 from 10a.m. until 9 p.m. with the prayer service at 7 p.m. A Funeral service to be held at Iglesia Camino Del Rey 960 W Ruben M Torres Blvd Brownsville, TX 78520 on Wednesday at 1pm with a burial to follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.

Honored to be serving as pallbearers will be Manuel Calderon, Roberto Calderon, Onesimo Calderon, Gabriel Calderon, Jorge Melendez Jr., Jose Angel Fernandez, Natividad Santana, Felix Calderon III and Miguel Uribe.
