With heavy hearts but deep gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the passing of Amparo V. De Leon, who departed this world surrounded by the love of her family. Amparo brought warmth, laughter, and endless generosity to everyone she met. To know her was to be loved by her.
Born with a nurturing soul, Amparo had a gift for making everyone feel at home. No one was ever a stranger in her presence. Whether you were family, a friend, or someone she had just met, she would welcome you with open arms, a warm plate of food, and a place at her table. Her home was more than a house — it was a refuge of love, laughter, and the delicious aroma of her cooking.
A woman of many talents, Amparo found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She had a green thumb and could bring any garden to life with her tender care. She poured love into her sewing, often gifting beautiful handmade pieces that became cherished keepsakes. And, of course, her cooking was legendary — each meal a reflection of her heritage, heart, and hospitality.
Two phrases captured her spirit more than any others:
“Thank you for coming,” said with sincerity and gratitude, no matter how brief your visit.
And, with a twinkle in her eye and loving affection, “¡Qué gordita estás!” — her unique way of saying, “You’re looking well-fed and happy,” a sign that you were loved and seen.
Amparo's legacy is one of unconditional love, kindness, and a life lived in service of others. Her presence was a blessing, her love a comfort, and her memory a treasure we will carry forever.
Amparo is survived by her children Lupita Resendez (Ricardo); Juan N. De Leon (Maria); Candy Scanlan (Jimmy); Genoveva Trevino (Carlos); and Enrique De Leon Jr. (Elsie).
She also left behind numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
