With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Amparo Pedraza, who entered eternal rest on January 14, 2026, at the age of 84, surrounded by love at Valley Baptist Medical Center – Harlingen. Amparo was born on January 13, 1942, and lived a life defined by faith, generosity, and devotion to her family.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ruperto Pedraza; her father, Jose Guadalupe Fernandez; her mother, Inez Benavides; and her beloved dog, Goofy. Amparo is survived by her cherished children: Francisco Javier Pedraza, Jose Guadalupe Pedraza (Claudia), and Julie Amparo Pedraza Araujo (Daniel). She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Ileana Jaquelyn Pedraza, Francisco Javier Pedraza Jr., David Alejandro Pedraza, Alec Joseph Pedraza, Sam Duncan Pedraza, and Ariana Valentina Araujo.
Amparo was the heart of her family and deeply loved by all who knew her. She was always willing to help anyone in need and found joy in cooking, gardening, and spending many years selling Avon, where she formed lasting friendships. She especially enjoyed talking with her friends on the phone and staying connected with those she loved. She also found great comfort in her cats, who lovingly remained by her side. Guided by her strong faith, Amparo found peace in prayer and faithfully prayed her Rosary.
Pallbearers honoring her life will be Francisco Javier Pedraza, Jose Guadalupe Pedraza, Daniel Valentin Araujo, Juan Manuel Pedraza, Francisco Javier Pedraza Jr., David Alejandro Pedraza, Alec Joseph Pedraza, and Sam Duncan Pedraza.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Valley Baptist Medical Center – Harlingen for her final medical care, as well as New Horizon Medical Clinic, South Texas Rehab, and Solara Hospital for their care, compassion, and support during this time.
