Ana Maria Tamez

Ana Maria Tamez, 90, of Brownsville, Tx. entered eternal rest on Thursday, December 20, 2018 with her loving family at her side. Ana was born in Brownsville, Tx. on December 27, 1927 to Jose and Juanita Brito. Ana was a compassionate and caring woman who took her role as wife, mother and daughter seriously. As a young mother of 5 children, she selflessly took in her dying father to care for him until his death. Later, she cared for and watched over both her mother and mother-in-law in their final days. Ana was a strong woman with a strong faith in God and her "Sweet Jesus". That strong faith sustained her through her many chronic illnesses that afflicted her in her later years. The faith that she demonstrated to her children has left a lasting impact in their spiritual life.

Ana is preceded in death by her father Jose Brito, mother Juanita Cavazos, husband Julian O. Tamez, brothers Jose, Carlos and Antonio Brito, sisters Guadalupe Zuniga and Lourdes Brito. Left to cherish her memory are: sisters Connie Scharf, Utah, Sylvia Corcoran, P.A., 6 children: Rosie Thatcher (Dean), N. Mexico, Teresa Tamez, Austin,Tx, Sara Satterwhite, Round Rock Tx. Estela Solis (Gus), Ernesto Tamez (Patti) and Ana Errisuriz (Eduardo) all of Brownsville; 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren.

As per Mrs. Tamez's wishes, family will be having a memorial service on Friday, December 28, 2018 from 3pm to 9pm with a rosary at 7pm at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista. Mass will be on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 12pm at St. Luke Catholic Church followed by an inurnment at Buena Vista Burial Park.
