

He was born in Mexico City and then moved to Matamoros, Tamaulipas where he met his wife. Antonio later moved to Brownsville to start his family. He worked as a sales representative at American National Insurance, Don Johnson Motors, Tipton Ford and Payne Motors. He also worked as Marketing/Sales Manager for KBOR radio station. He was also the CEO for CB Electronics. He later worked for the BISD Police/Security department as a security officer and his last job was as a home visitor at Hanna High School.
Toño was a wonderful and loving person with an enormous heart. He was very supportive of his wife and children and adored each one of them in his own special way.
He is preceded in death by his father Antonio Cardenas, Sr. and his mother Maria Josefa Hernandez de Cardenas.
Mr. Cardenas is survived by his wife, Yolanda B. Cardenas; daughters, Melissa and Yolee Cardenas; son, Tony Cardenas; sisters, Ma. Dolores “Lola” and Adelaida Cardenas and several nephews and nieces.
Visitation was held from 2:30pm to 9pm with a recitation of the Rosary at 7pm on Friday, August 12, 2011. Visitation will also be held from 8am to 2pm on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 3pm on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church,
2800 Rockwell, Brownsville, Texas. A cremation will follow at a later date.
Serving as pallbearers will be Tony Cardenas, Martin Abel Butron, Esteban Escobedo, Moe Molina, Guillermo “Memo” Butron, Oscar Garza, Juan Gamez and Ernesto “Chacho” Velarde Danache.
