He was born in Brownsville, April 10, 1927 to Guadalupe and Sotero Garcia (preceded in death). He was one of 9 siblings, (preceded in death) Jose, Jesus, Simona, Felipa, Celestina, and Roberto, surviving are Raul and Carmen.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1945-46. Six of those months he served state side and 10 months in Germany earning the "Army of Occupation" and "Victory" ribbons.
He met his wife Paula ( Poli as he affectionately called her) in 1948 and began their married life Jan. 1949. They raised 4 children Rosie (Joe) Aguilar, Diana (Jim) Villarreal, Cecilia and Tony Jr. (Kristen) They have been blessed with 6 grandchildren (Julie, Jessica, Nick, Andy, Vanessa and Lily) and 10 great grandchildren (Carlie, CJ, Chloe, Bella, Nick Jr., Ivan, Monica, Raphael, Emily and Laurel).
He worked 34 years for the Border Patrol in Bayview as a heavy mobile equipment mechanic. After retirement, in 1989, he began a golf cart business but for fun, he enjoyed nothing more than a round of golf and watching the Dallas Cowboys, win-lose-or draw!
He was a man of few words, but the words he spoke were always kind, supportive and a service to others. Mom and dad made a great team. He left us with great life lessons of following Christ by serving others, family (both immediate and extended), hard work and always harmony over discord. He also gave us great moments of laughter, he could not contain himself and would turn beet red earning him the nickname of "Red".
Services will be held at ... Rose Lawn Chapel located at 4464 Old Port Isabel Rd. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Cemetery...
