Benjamin Alfred Wilson
April 26, 1930 – March 9, 2020
Benjamin Alfred Wilson was born April 26, 1930 in Oklahoma City to Lee and George Wilson. Ben, as he was known to friends and family, joined the merchant marines when he was 17, lying about his age to be able to join. He met his beautiful wife of 69 years, 11 months and 28 days, Emma Mae Winger in Oklahoma City. Ben was 20 and Emma was 17 when they married March 11, 1951. While married they had five children, including 2 sets of twins. Throughout their marriage they traveled the country. Ben’s most favorite place to live was in Alaska, where he lived from 1976 to 1986 and worked for the Alaska State Ferry System, when they returned to Brownsville.
Ben loved the outdoors especially when he was able to ride his Harley Davidson Motorcycle, one of his most favorite things. While in Brownsville he had an ostrich farm and then while in Bayview had a citrus orchard. He loved fishing, his dog “Benito” and of course was a loyal Dallas Cowboy fan, no matter what.
Ben loved to hear from his loved ones and have them come visit. He always ended his conversations with “I love you more”. He always greeted you with a smile and a hug. You always knew how much he loved you and he would be there to help you when you needed it.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Lee Wilson, his brothers, David and Larry Wilson, his sisters Pauline Wilson and Georgia Elliot and his two twin sons, Randy and Rickie Wilson.
Left to cherish his loving memory are his wife, Emma Mae Wilson, his son, Steve Wilson, his daughters Teresa (Dave) Sterley and Deinsa (Ruben +) Villarreal, his brother Donald Wilson, his grandchildren, Layla Trevino, Mario Ruben “Mister” Villarreal III, Stephanie Wilson, Marcus Randel Villarreal, Robin Wilson, Megan Stout, Leslie Wilson, Randy Wilson, his great-grandchildren, Andres Trevino, Mario Villarreal IV, Arron Trevino, Marco Villarreal, Lauren Villarreal, Catrina Trevino, Tanner Johnson, Randy Wilson Jr. “RJ”, Emmarie Stout.
