Carlos Hernandez

Carlos Hernandez, a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and cherished member of the Brownsville community, passed away surrounded by family and love. Known for his warm spirit and vibrant personality, Carlos touched the lives of many through his passions, kindness, and unwavering dedication to family and community.

Carlos was a proud member of the Brownsville Medieval Knights Chess Club, where he shared his love for chess as both a player and teacher. He was also a retired cyclist and longtime member of the Brownsville Velociraptors Cycling Team, combining his love of fitness and adventure. A true enthusiast, Carlos collected miniature bicycles, reflecting his deep appreciation for cycling in all forms.

He enjoyed an active lifestyle and was passionate about fitness, soccer, gardening, grilling, and traveling. Whether he was spending time at the beach, entertaining guests, or simply enjoying time with his grandchildren, Carlos was the life of the party—charismatic, joyful, and full of love.

Carlos is survived by his beloved wife, Maria Guadalupe Hernandez, his children Carlos Hernandez Jr. (Sandra), Sergio Hugo Hernandez (Melissa), and Claudia Santos (Jose); and his grandchildren Alyssa, Charlie, Layla, Cristian, and Elias. He is also survived by his siblings Alicia, Javier, Graciela, Ana Maria, Guadalupe, Salvador, Arturo, Susana, Patricia, Fernando, Horacio, and Gabriela.

He was preceded in death by his parents Salvador Hernandez Solis and Dolores Cardoso de Hernandez, as well as his siblings Horacio (baby), Teresa, Silvia, and Miguel.

Carlos Hernandez will be remembered for the joy he brought to those around him, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A visitation for Carlos will be held Wednesday, July 23, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 12:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista in Chapel of Peace, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, TX 78521. A rosary will occur Wednesday, July 23, 2025 from 7:00 PM in Chapel of Peace, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, TX 78521. A chapel service will occur Thursday, July 24, 2025 from 12:00 PM in Chapel of Peace, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, TX 78521. A burial will occur Thursday, July 24, 2025 from 1:00 PM at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 Mc Davitt Blvd, Brownsville, TX 78521.

Amado Esposo, Padre, Abuelo y Amigo

Carlos Hernandez, un esposo devoto, padre amoroso, orgulloso abuelo y estimado miembro de la comunidad de Brownsville, falleció rodeado de su familia y amor. Conocido por su espíritu cálido y personalidad vibrante, Carlos tocó la vida de muchos a través de sus pasiones, su amabilidad y su inquebrantable dedicación a la familia y la comunidad.

Carlos fue un orgulloso miembro del Club de Ajedrez Brownsville Medieval Knights, donde compartía su amor por el ajedrez como jugador y maestro. También fue ciclista retirado y miembro de muchos años del equipo Brownsville Velociraptors Cycling Team, combinando su amor por la actividad física y la aventura. Apasionado de corazón, Carlos coleccionaba bicicletas en miniatura, reflejando su profunda admiración por el ciclismo en todas sus formas.

Llevaba un estilo de vida activo y le apasionaban el ejercicio, el fútbol, la jardinería, hacer carnes asadas y viajar. Ya fuera disfrutando un día en la playa, conviviendo con amigos o pasando tiempo con sus nietos, Carlos era el alma de la fiesta—carismático, alegre y lleno de amor.

Carlos deja tras de sí a su amada esposa, Maria Guadalupe Hernandez; sus hijos Carlos Hernandez Jr. (Sandra), Sergio Hugo Hernandez (Melissa) y Claudia Santos (Jose); y sus nietos Alyssa, Charlie, Layla, Cristian y Elias. También le sobreviven sus hermanos Alicia, Javier, Graciela, Ana María, Guadalupe, Salvador, Arturo, Susana, Patricia, Fernando, Horacio y Gabriela.

Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres Salvador Hernandez Solis y Dolores Cardoso de Hernandez, así como sus hermanos Horacio (bebé), Teresa, Silvia y Miguel.

Carlos Hernandez será recordado por la alegría que brindó a quienes lo rodeaban, las enseñanzas que dejó y el amor que ofreció generosamente. Su legado vivirá en los corazones de todos quienes lo conocieron y amaron.

La velación de Carlos se llevará a cabo el Miércoles 23 de Julio de 2025, de 5:00 PM a 12:00 AM en Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista Capilla de la Paz, ubicada en 125 McDavitt Blvd, Brownsville, TX 78521. El Rosario se realizará el mismo día, Miércoles 23 de Julio, de 7:00 PM en Capilla De la Paz, en la misma dirección. El servicio en la capilla tendrá lugar el Jueves 24 de Julio de 2025, de 12:00 PM en Capilla de la Paz. El entierro se llevará a cabo el Jueves 24 de Julio, de 1:00 PM en el cementerio Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 McDavitt Blvd, Brownsville, TX 78521.
