Diego Garcia,, age 73, passed on August 30, 2026,. He will be lovingly remembered as a devoted husband, caring stepfather, beloved brother, and a man who found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. His presence, love, and the many memories he created will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
Diego had a special love for fishing and enjoyed the peaceful moments spent by the water. He also loved barbequing, especially when it meant gathering with those closest to him, sharing good food, laughter, conversation, and time together.
Traveling was another one of Diego’s greatest joys. He loved exploring new cities, discovering new places, and experiencing everything each destination had to offer. Taking a trip was always something he looked forward to, whether it was a new adventure or a familiar getaway. For Diego, the journey was just as meaningful as the destination, especially when it was shared with the people he loved.
Above all, Diego treasured his family. As a husband, stepfather, and brother, he shared a special place in the lives of those closest to him. The moments they spent together—whether around the barbecue, on a fishing trip, traveling to a new city, or simply enjoying one another’s company—will now become treasured memories.
Diego will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though his journey on earth has come to an end, the love he shared and the memories he created will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
Diego is survived by Gloria T. Salazar, wife; Frank Garcia, brother; Rolando Benavidez, step-son; and Emily Delgado, step-daughter. Diego was preceded in death by Diego Garcia, father; Evangelina F. Garcia, mother; and Paula Cogtill, sister.
Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, TX 78521, US, on September 7, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm. with a Rosary at 7:00 PM
Burial will be held at RIO GRANDE VALLEY STATE VETERANS CEMETERY, 2520 Inspiration Rd, Mission, TX 78572, US, on September 8, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
