Dina Lara de Nunez, 81, passed away on September 28, 2026. Born on April 9, 1945, Dina lived in Brownsville, Texas, and will be remembered with deep respect and enduring love by all who were blessed to know her.
Throughout her life, Dina carried herself with a quiet strength—steady, brave, and wise in the ways that matter most. She was a beloved and cherished presence in her family, offering compassion with gentleness, and generosity with thoughtful care. Patient by nature and kind-hearted in spirit, she gave of herself in ways both seen and unseen, leaving a lasting example of devotion and grace.
Dina’s faith was a guiding light. She found purpose in serving the Lord and in her service at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, where her faithful heart and inspirational example touched many. Even in ordinary moments, she brought warmth and calm, and those closest to her will remember the soft humor she carried—an easy, comforting joy that made time together feel lighter.
Her hands were rarely still. Dina expressed love through the careful work of sewing and crochet, and she delighted in simple pleasures like playing lotería. Above all, she treasured time with family—moments of togetherness that reflected her devoted spirit and the deep care she held for those she loved.
Dina was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Reyes Nunez Casillas. She is survived by her children: Elva Guadalupe Nunez Lara; Yolanda Tuberville (William); Miguel Angel Nunez (Olga); Margarita Nunez; and Marta Aguirre (Oscar). She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Rose Lawn, 4464 Old Port Isabel Rd, Brownsville, TX, on October 1, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a Rosary at 7:00 pm.
Mass will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2645 Tulipan St, Brownsville, TX, on October 2, 2026, from 10:00 am to 10:30 am.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4464 Old Port Isabel Road, Brownsville, TX, on October 2, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Dina’s life was a testament to faith, love, and steadfast devotion. Her gentle presence, courageous heart, and thoughtful ways will be carried forward by her family and all who cherish her memory.
