Eliseo Salas, born on July 24, 1936, passed away on December 20, 2025, at the age of 89. He was a resident of Brownsville, Texas.
Elias proudly served in the United States Army as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division, completing 30 career parachute jumps—a testament to his courage, strength, and dedication to his country. During his military service, he was also an accomplished Army cross-country skier in Alaska and a proud member of the 100 Miles Club, reflecting his endurance and commitment to excellence.
A lifelong runner, Elias was an active member of the Brownsville Marathoners, where he found joy, purpose, and camaraderie through distance running. His determination and perseverance inspired those who ran alongside him.
Guided by a strong Catholic faith, Elias participated in Cursillo and devoted himself to prison ministry, offering hope, compassion, and spiritual guidance to others. His faith was not only something he believed in, but something he lived through service and humility.
Above all, Elias cherished his role as a father and grandfather, finding his greatest pride and joy in his family. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, faith, discipline, and love that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Elias Salas will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to God, family, country, and community. His life was one of purpose, and his memory will live on in the hearts of many.
Eliseo is survived by his daughter, Aida Elena Hausmann (Curtis), and his sons, Mario Alejandro Salas and Miguel Angel Torres (Betty). His grandchildren, Robert Alejandro Hausmann and Erica Hausmann, also survive him.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Salvador Salas and Lupito Salas, and his sister, Guadalupe Salas. His father, Macedonio Salas, and mother, Librada Rios Salas, also preceded him in death.
His surviving brother is Pedro Salas.
