Elvia Lucio Longoria was born to parents Beatriz Alcala Lucio and Santana Lucio. She was beautiful, intelligent and was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt and a special and loyal friend to many.
Her inquisitive mind and insatiable love of knowledge lead her to complete a bookkeeping degree very early in her working career. However, she did not find it fulfilling, so she returned to school to study nursing. Elvia loved being a labor and delivery nurse. She relished supporting patients and families by educating them on newborn care. She retired after many years of dedicated service to this important career. Retirement allowed her to indulge her love of learning. She loved to study military history and the history of Brownsville.
Preceding Elvia in death was her husband Staff Sargent Catarino Longoria who retired from the Marine Corp. Also preceding her in death were her parents Beatriz Alcala Lucio and Santana Lucio. She was also preceded in death by her brother-in-law Tomas Rodriguez and brother-in-law Antonio Zamora. Both of which were her life long friends as well as family members.
