Emma L. Guevara, 93, passed away on April 26, 2026 surrounded by the love of her family. Born April 27, 1932, Emma was a beloved and kind-hearted presence whose steady devotion to faith and family shaped a life of quiet strength and generous care. A resident of Brownsville, Texas, she will be remembered with deep respect and enduring love.
In her early years, Emma worked as an educator at Garza Elementary for two years. She devoted herself fully to her family, living out her calling with faithful dedication. Married for 56 years, she was a devoted wife, and a caring and loving mother and grandma whose warmth and constancy were felt in the everyday moments that mattered most.
Emma found joy in simple, life-giving pleasures—gardening, dancing, and music that filled her home and heart. She especially loved mariachi, Vicente Fernandez, and Pedro Infante, along with cumbias and tejano. A devoted Catholic, she loved reading her Bible, drawing comfort and guidance from its pages and sharing that steady faith with those around her.
Her faithful spirit also expressed itself through service. Emma enjoyed volunteering at different places, including Valley Baptist Hospital, and she was devoted to helping her church. She taught younger people her love and devotion to God through catechism education, and she volunteered at San Felipe de Jesus Catholic Church as well as St. Luke's Catholic Church—offering her time with the same kindness and care that defined her life.
Emma is survived by her husband, Jesus H. Guevara; her daughters, Antonieta Parra (Gilbert ♰), Nena Peret (Jeff), and Christina Beltran (Robert); her sons, Alfred Adolfo Razo (Andrea ♰), Guillermo Guevara (Ana Patricia), and Enrique Guevara (Erica); and her son in law, Juan Garza. She is also Survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren and extended family.
