
Ernesto S. Castro, age 90, of Rancho Viejo, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2025, in Brownsville, Texas. He was born on March 11, 1935, in Rosario, Santa Fe, Argentina, to Ernesto Lisandro Castro and Hermina Martinez, and began a fruitful life filled with perseverance and dedication. He immigrated to the United States in 1967. He married Ana Maria Avila on December 15, 1973, in Ciudad Acuña, Coahuila. They shared 51 years of a beautiful, devoted marriage and lovingly raised their four children—Ernesto, Glynn, Michel, and Ana Veronica—who remain a lasting reflection of their love.
Ernesto was an alumnus of the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba in Argentina, where he studied and received a degree in Industrial Engineering. He spent several years working in the Maquiladora Industry for companies like Zenith, General Instruments, and other companies before co-founding Top Performance Industries/Mexam with his wife, Ana Maria, marking a successful chapter in their lives.
A dedicated husband and father, Ernesto relished his role as a father to his children, often instilling words of wisdom, giving them space to learn from their mistakes, and always leading by example. He was known for his unwavering commitment to his family. He remained steadfast in his beliefs even when many would not.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernesto Lisandro and Hermina, and his loving wife Ana Maria. His loving memory will live on with his sister, Gladis Premern, brother Mariano Castro, his children, Ernesto Castro (Evelyn Armendariz), Glynn Castro (Beth Ann Castro), Jean Michel Castro, and Ana Veronica Castro; and grandchildren: Fatima Castro, Kiara Castro, Cristian Castro, Ernesto Castro IV, Sebastian Castro, Renata Castro, Nicholas Castro, Emma Castro, and Gianna Castro as well as many nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ernesto’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association and Parkinson’s Foundation.
Funeral Mass and Rite of Committal will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Austin, TX, on December 20, 2025, at 10 am.
