Esther was born in Ejido San Luisito, Heroica Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico. With determination and pride, she became a United States citizen on May 23, 1959, a meaningful milestone in her life's journey.
Esther was a hardworking, independent, and determined woman who dedicated many years of her life to providing for her family. She began working in the service industry at a young age at Rutledge Hamburgers and later retired from VICC after 25 years of dedicated service. Her strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit led her to own and operate several businesses, ranging from A-Trucking Service to neighborhood mom-and-pop stores.
Beyond her many accomplishments, Esther was especially known for her delicious homemade tamales, which brought family, friends, and loved ones together. Her cooking was just one of the many ways she shared her love with others.
Esther was a longtime devoted member of Christ the King Catholic Church, where her faith remained an important part of her life. She enjoyed playing lotería, solving puzzles, and, most importantly, spending quality time with her family. Whether gathered around a table playing games, sharing stories, or simply enjoying one another's company, Esther treasured every moment spent with those she loved.
One of Esther's most memorable sayings was, "Mi esposo me dejó bien bendecida, pero no de dinero, sino con mis hijos." ("My husband left me truly blessed, not with money, but with my children.")
These heartfelt words reflected what Esther valued most in life. To her, the greatest riches were not material possessions but the love, laughter, and blessings of her children and family. Her children were her greatest pride, her greatest joy, and the most precious gift life had given her.
Esther will forever be remembered for her strength, hardworking spirit, unwavering faith, delicious tamales, and endless love for her family. Her beautiful legacy will live on through her children and all those whose lives she touched.
Although she is no longer physically with us, the memories she created, the lessons she taught, and the love she shared will remain in the hearts of her family forever.
May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by God's everlasting love.
Esther is survived by her children, Juana Alicia De La Garza, Gloria Carrejo, Maribel Rocha, Leonardo De La Garza (Yvette Soto), Esther Altamirano (Victor), Juan Rodolfo De La Garza (Aziza Escamilla), and Liliana De La Garza; and sisters Magdalena Garcia and Juanita Ramirez, her half brother, Rudy Ramirez along with 15 Grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
