Born on February 24, 1925, to his parents, Rosenda and Tomas Maldonado, in Brownsville, Texas. Felix graduated from St. Joseph's Academy in 1941, and was drafted shortly thereafter by the U.S. Army to fight in World War II. In 1946 he married Stella Bryan, and together they had four daughters, Esther, Estela, Lydia, and Cynthia. Felix later remarried Rosa Minerva Cisneros, and together they shared four daughters, Melissa, Melinda, Rosemary, and Diana. In 1952, Felix opened Maldonado Pharmacy, where he worked as a dedicated pharmacist for many decades, taking pride in pleasing customers. Felix was a very kind, generous and humble man. His daughters recall that at various times throughout the years, his customers would call their home asking for a prescription and he would immediately leave to open the store for them. Felix never turned down a customer for financial gain; he would often accept any amount they could afford, and many times accepted food. Throughout the years, Felix enjoyed sharing stories with his friends and family about World War II and from his time at the University of Texas at Austin. Outside of his love of medicine was his love of sports, specifically for the Texas Longhorns and the New York Yankees. Preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Tomas Maldonado, Jr., Felix Maldonado has left a legacy of love through the many family members that survive him: his wife, Minerva Maldonado; sister, Oralia Teran (brother-in-law, Homero); brother, Leonel Maldonado (sister-in-law, Betty); daughter, Esther Ashford (son-in-law, Alan); daughter, Estela Essex; daughter, Lydia Garcia (son-in-law, David); daughter, Cynthia Machado (son-in-law, Roger); daughter Melissa Sanicola (son-in-law, Ray); daughter, Melinda Maldonado; daughter, Rosemary Sanicola; daughter, Diana De La Paz; thirteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and, two great-great grandchildren.
