Francisco Javier Herrera, 72, was born February 4, 1954, in Harlingen, Texas, and passed away July 4, 2026. A longtime resident of Brownsville, Texas, Francisco will be remembered with deep respect and enduring affection by all who had the privilege to know him. His steady presence, quiet devotion to family, and the simple joys he cherished formed a life marked by dignity and warmth.
Francisco found contentment in everyday moments—working in the yard and pulling weeds, enjoying music and dancing, and settling in to watch favorite television shows, especially cowboys and indians. He also enjoyed play baseball, bingo, and chalupa. Above all, he valued time with family, and his gift for telling stories to his nephews will remain a treasured memory, carried forward in the laughter and love he helped create.
Francisco is survived by his brother, Raul Herrera; and his sisters, Maria Luisa Caraveo, Hortencia Abrego, Socorro Ticen, and Julieta Torres. He was preceded in death by his father, Gerardo Herrera Sr. †; his mother, Maria Guadalupe Ibarra †; and his brothers, Gerardo Herrera Jr. †, Ricardo Herrera †, Jose Luis Herrera †, Alejandro Herrera †, and Victor Manuel Herrera †.
Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Rose Lawn, 4464 Old Port Isabel Rd, Brownsville, TX 78526, on July 8, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A Rosary will be held there on July 8, 2026, at 6:00 pm. A Chapel Service will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Rose Lawn on July 9, 2026, at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4464 Old Port Isabel Road, Brownsville, TX 78526, on July 9, 2026, at 1:00 pm.
