German Elias Baca

May 24, 1943 – July 27, 2026

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved father, brother, and grandfather, Germán Elías Baca Pinto, who peacefully entered the presence of our Lord on July 27, 2026, after courageously battling heart disease. Born on May 24, 1943, in Quito, Ecuador, Germán lived a life defined by unwavering faith, deep love for his family, and a steadfast commitment to sharing the hope found in Jesus Christ.

While our hearts grieve his absence, we rejoice in knowing that he is now healed, whole, and rejoicing in the eternal presence of the Savior he faithfully loved and served.

Germán was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ whose greatest passion was sharing the Gospel. He had an unwavering faith in God and knew Scripture by heart, often quoting God’s Word with conviction and joy. His favorite passage was Psalm 91, which he faithfully recited throughout his life and continued to quote until the very end.

Whether speaking with family, friends, or complete strangers, Germán never missed an opportunity to share the love of Christ. His life was a living testimony of God’s faithfulness, and his greatest desire was that everyone would come to know the hope, peace, and salvation found in Jesus.

Those who knew Germán will also remember his infectious laughter, wonderful sense of humor, enduring optimism, competitive spirit, and remarkable work ethic. He had a unique ability to brighten any room, lifting the spirits of those around him with his charisma, kindness, and genuine love for people.

Above all, Germán cherished his family. He was a loving father to Gene Christian Baca (Macy) and Elisabeth DiDato, and a proud grandfather to Skyler Baca, who brought him immeasurable joy. He also held Christine Ramaglia Sand (Kelly) and Katherine DeCicco (Joseph)close to his heart, loving them as if they were his own.

Born the second of ten children, Germán shared a lifelong bond with his brothers and sisters.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Luis Alberto Baca Pinto and Zoila Herlinda Pinto de Baca, and by his brother, Juan Marcelo Baca.

He is lovingly survived by his siblings: Luis A. Baca (Josefina), Martha González (Oscar), Iván Baca (Jennifer), Alba Harper, Myriam Aceves (Francisco), Fernando P. Baca (Maribel), Teresa Baca Negrete (Manolo), and Galo A. Baca (Dunia), along with many cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure his love, wisdom, encouragement, and steadfast faith.

Outside of his faith and family, Germán enjoyed cheering on his favorite soccer teams, as well as the New York Yankees, New York Giants, and New York Knicks. He loved following their seasons and sharing his enthusiasm with family and friends.

Though we will miss him deeply, we take comfort in the words he so often shared:

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” — 2 Timothy 4:7

We trust that upon entering his Savior’s presence, he heard the words:

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23

Germán’s legacy of unwavering faith, unconditional love, and devotion to Christ will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him until the glorious day we are reunited in our Father’s house.
