Gilberto Castillo Jr., 36, was born on September 2, 1989, in Brownsville, Texas, and passed away on August 28, 2026. Gilberto lived in Brownsville, Texas, where he was known and loved by many who will remember him with deep respect and enduring affection.
Those closest to Gilberto will remember the steady presence he brought to the lives around him, and the simple joys he embraced. He found genuine enjoyment in bike riding, The Texas Longhorns and had a special appreciation for trucks and four wheelers—interests that reflected his hands-on spirit and the way he valued time spent doing what he loved.
Gilberto is survived by his wife, Zoraya Andrade; his father, Gilberto Castillo; his mother, Rosa Tabasco; his son, Yahir Jimenez; and his daughters, Kassandra Aguilera, Pamela Aguilera, and Guadalupe Benavidez. He is also survived by his sisters, Belia Martinez (Ruben) and Tomasa Vargas (Frank), and Lina M. Castillo (Alejandro); his brothers, Jose Vargas (Sonia), Roberto Castillo (Selina), Perla Gonzalez (Jerry) and Patricia Alfaro (Gabriel); and 25 nieces and nephews.
Gilberto was preceded in death by his grandfather, Santos Castillo †; his grandmother, Lina Castillo †; his sister, Rosita Castillo †; his niece, Jimena Martinez †; and his grandson, Emiliano Gonzalez †.
Visitation will be held at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521, on September 2, 2026, from 1:00 pm to the next day, with a Rosary at 7:00 pm on September 2, 2026.
Burial will take place at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521, on September 3, 2026, at 11:00 am.
