Gilberto Garces, 72, passed away on July 31, 2026. Born on July 15, 1954, Gilberto lived with steady purpose—meeting life with courage and curiosity, and carrying himself with an honesty that earned trust and respect. He will be remembered as a cherished and beloved presence whose kindness and compassion were felt deeply by those who knew him, and whose devotion and faithfulness guided the way he loved and served his family. A hard-working man with a generous spirit, Gilberto also knew the quiet power of laughter, offering warmth and lightness even in serious moments, and leaving behind an example that continues to inspire.
Gilberto is survived by his children; Gilberto Garces (Annie Duarte), Gloria Gina Garces, Patricia Garces (Ramon Villarreal), and Selina Garces Gallaga (Alejandro Gallaga), as well as grandchildren Dominick Silva, Espn Garces, Elaine Garces, Mauricio Villarreal, Paris Deflora, and Liliana Gallaga.
Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Rose Lawn, 4464 Old Port Isabel Rd, Brownsville, TX 78526, on August 6, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, with a chapel service at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4464 Old Port Isabel Road, Brownsville, TX 78526, on August 6, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
