With deep sorrow and abiding love, we announce the passing of Gustavo Medina, a devoted brother, uncle, cousin, mentor, and friend, who left this world on August 14, 2025, at the age of 65.
Born on October 10, 1959, Gustavo was a man of many talents and a man with a big heart. In 1999, he founded a successful business in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration—a venture that reflected his lifelong passion for fixing, tinkering, and building. But Gustavo’s true gift was in sharing what he knew. He took immense pride in teaching others the trade, helping them build careers and confidence, and always offering a hand to those willing to learn.
Gustavo was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Medina and Maria De Lourdes De Leon-Medina; his sisters, Elizabeth Medina and Jessica Ann Medina; and his brothers, Ricardo Medina and Guillermo Medina. He is survived by his son, Kaylem Gustavo Medina; his stepdaughter, Cinci Sharp; his siblings, Jose Medina III (Connie), Elena Medina Cano (Carlos), and Maria de Lourdes Medina-Pena (Rene), Marco Antonio Medina; and his sisters-in-law, Hilda Yzaguirre Medina and Yolanda Compian Medina. He also leaves behind a large and loving circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
Family was Gustavo’s foundation. He cherished time spent around the grill during backyard barbecues, laughing over card games and board games, and making memories with those he loved most. When his mother Lourdes became ill, Gustavo stepped into the role of caregiver with grace and devotion, ensuring she remained active in her church and social circles. His care extended beyond his family; he became a support in his mother’s community, making sure neighboring elders had food, companionship, and support.
From a young age, Gustavo was an adventurer at heart. He was always willing to try something new—whether it was a bold idea, a spontaneous trip, or a risky project that others might shy away from. Not every endeavor ended perfectly, but that never deterred him. He embraced life with a fearless spirit and contagious enthusiasm, collecting stories, lessons, and laughter along the way. Gustavo was a risk-taker who truly enjoyed his life, and his daring nature inspired those around him to live a little more boldly.
In his quieter moments, Gustavo was an avid movie and TV show enthusiast, a thoughtful reader, and a peaceful fisherman. These simple joys reflected his deep appreciation for life’s everyday beauty.
Gustavo Medina lived a life of service, love, and integrity. His legacy will live on in the lives he touched, the lessons he taught, and the memories he created. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
