

Hortencia was born on June 12, 1920 in Brownsville to Jose and Josefina Perez. She loved singing and taking care of her grandchildren.
Mr. Garza is preceded in death by her parents; husband Alberto S. Garza; two daughters, Lydia Garza of Brownsville and Sylvia G. Chavez of Florida; three brothers, Jose Perez, Juan Perez and Mariano Nenque.
Hortencia is survived by five daughters, Alicia Turnbaugh and Estela Garza of Corpus Christi; Mary Jo ( Luis) Champion and Ana ( Eddie) Leal of Houston; and Irma (Ramiro) Garcia of Brownsville; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 25, 2013 from 5pm – 9pm with a Holy Rosary at 7pm at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am on Friday, April 26, 2013 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church 2800 Rockwell in Brownsville, TX with a committal service to Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers will be, Luis Champion, Michael Turnbaugh, Jaime D. Garcia, Rolando D. Garcia, Edward Leal Jr. and Jose A. Leal.
