Jesus Lara (Jesse) was born on June 13, 1969 to parents Luis Lara and Maria Lara in Brownsville, TX. After, Jesse graduated from Gladys Porter High School in May 30, 1987. He went on to receive his Bachelor's in Business Administration at the University of Texas in Edinburg, TX. While attending college, he started his first job as a student aide at the U.S. Department of Agriculture. This kickstarted at 34 year career in U.S. Customs and Border Protection as a Mission Support Specialist. Jesse also worked as a Financial Advisor at H&R Block on his free time.
His favorite activities and hobbies included the collection of rare coins and sports memorabilia. He loved to read the Wall Street Journal and other financial news. He was a fan of Star Trek and enjoyed spending time with his family and his loving mother. He enjoyed playing board games and video games with his nephews and nieces.
He will forever be remembered as a loving son, brother and uncle. We will honor his memory by living our lives as he would have wanted us to and we will take the joy and pleasure he had in life and share it freely with others.
We would like to thank all who helped lift his spirit in his final days. All the health care providers who cared for him. Finally, to all our family, friends and coworkers, we thank you for attending the ceremony as we honor and cherish Jesse in memory.
Jesus is survived by his mother Maria G. Lara; his sisters Juanita Granado, Irma Gomez, Maria Luisa Perez, Nora Amelia Lara, Leticia Henning and Noemi Hernandez; his 9 nephews Jose Gomez, Joe Bishop, Derek Perez, Esau Granado, Oscar Enriquez, Eliseo Granado, Devin Perez, Diego Vidal, Elias Granado, his 3 nieces Gladys Vidal, Jeannette Martinez and Amanda Hernandez.
Jesus was preceded in death by his father Luis Lara; his grandfather Guadalupe Gallardo; his niece Janis Gomez.
Serving as pallbearers are Diego Vidal, Joe Bishop, Derek Perez, Devin Perez, Fred Henning, Ray Lopez, Eliseo Granado and Dion Bishop.
A visitation for Jesus will be held Thursday, December 28, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Rose Lawn, 4464 Old Port Isabel Road, Brownsville, Texas 78526. A continued visitation will occur Friday, December 29, 2023 from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM with a Rosary at 7:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Rose Lawn. A chapel service will occur Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Funeraria Del Angel Rose Lawn followed by a burial at 11:00 AM at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4464 Old Port Isabel Road, Brownsville, Texas 78526.
