Jose “Beto” Garza, a proud fisherman, devoted family man, and cherished friend to many, passed away on February 20, 2026, at the age of 77. He left behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
Beto found his true calling on the water. As a respected captain of the boats Elvira G. and La Tanya, he spent countless hours doing what he loved most—fishing and sharing his passion for the sea with others. Those who had the privilege of boarding his boats knew they were in the hands of a skilled captain who took pride in his work and joy in every journey.
Later in life, Beto became the owner of Captain Harry Bait Stand, where he formed numerous friendships. It wasn’t just a place to buy bait—it was a place to gather, to swap stories, and to share laughs. Beto’s sense of humor was unforgettable. Everyone knew him as the funny one, always ready with a joke, a playful comment, or a story that would leave you smiling.
While fishing was his passion, his greatest pride was his family. He shared a beautiful marriage of over 30 years with Adolfina, his beloved wife, whose love and partnership meant everything to him. Their bond was strong, steady, and full of devotion.
His only child, Elvira, was his pride and joy. He loved her deeply and never missed a chance to speak proudly of her. His heart grew even fuller with the arrival of his grandchildren, Juan Humberto and Vivian, whom he loved more than anything in this world. Becoming a great-grandfather to his two great-granddaughters brought him even greater happiness and pride.
Jose “Beto” Garza will be remembered for his big heart, his laughter, his dedication to his work, and the immense love he had for his family. His stories will continue to be told, his jokes remembered, and his love felt for generations to come.
He is survived by his wife, Adolfina Garza, his daughter, Elvira Granado, and his son-in-law, J.J. Granado. His family also includes his grandson, Juan Humberto Granado (Joana), and his granddaughter, Vivian Briseño (Agustin).
