

JOSE Y. RAMIREZ, “Cactus Joe”, 62, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend entered into eternal rest with our Savior on Friday March 31, 2012, at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio surrounded by his loving family.
A native of Brownsville, Texas, “Cactus” Joe Ramirez had been a lifetime resident of Brownsville. He was a member of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He loved oldies, rock ‘n roll, restoring his antique cars “carcachas”, fishing, hunting, working in his shop and going to car shows. He built his own apartments and was self-employed since 1972. He especially loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren- his pride and joy. Many will remember him for his magnet smile even during his rough times of illness and his zest for life. He will be greatly missed by all those fortunate to have known him.
He was preceded in death by his parents Maria and Rafael Ramirez, and a granddaughter Amanda Dani Perez.
Left behind to eternally treasure his memory are his wife Delilah Plata Ramirez; children: Nereida Perez, Claudia Salinas, Rebecca and Jose (Joey) Ramirez Jr.; son in laws: Daniel Perez, Eliseo (Jake) Salinas, and Leonardo Torres Jr,; daughter in law: Crystal Ramirez; sisters: Lydia (Everett) Jimenez, and Libby R. Portillo; brothers: Celestino, Rafael Jr, and Guadalupe (Luz) Ramirez; grandchildren: Danielle Dani Perez, Daniel Perez II, Ember Dani Perez, Patricia Lizette Torres, Michael Joseph Torres, Elijah Jake Salinas, Ethan James Salinas, Evanee Jade Salinas, Ichelle Izet Ramirez, and Angeleena Yanelia Torres.
Visitation was held from 11am to 9pm at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista on Tuesday, April 3, 2012.
Chapel Service will be held today, Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at 2pm at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista. Entombment will follow immediately at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Honored to be serving as pallbearers are: Jose (Joey) Ramirez Jr., Daniel Perez, Jake Salinas, Leonardo Torres, Leroy Portillo, Orlando Portillo, Joshua Ramirez, and Saul Ramirez.
