Juan will be remembered as a loving father, proud grandfather, and cherished great-grandfather whose greatest joy in life was the family he loved so deeply. His guidance, kindness, and steady presence will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
A proud United States Army veteran, Juan dedicated 27 years of faithful service to his country. During his distinguished military career, he served honorably in **Operation Desert Storm**, demonstrating courage, commitment, and selfless devotion. His service was a source of great pride, and he carried the values of honor, integrity, and perseverance throughout his life.
Outside of his military career, Juan found great happiness working with his hands. One of his greatest passions was restoring and working on classic automobiles, especially Corvettes. Whether repairing, rebuilding, or simply admiring these timeless cars, he found joy in every project and took pride in the craftsmanship they required.
Juan's life was one of dedication—to his country, to his family, and to the things he loved most. His legacy of service, hard work, and unconditional love will continue to inspire his family for generations to come. Though he will be deeply missed, the memories he created and the love he shared will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Juan is survived by his daughter, Silvia Mendoza Munoz (Jose Munoz); his son, David Mendoza; and his grandchildren, Kimberly Acosta (Andrew Acosta), Marbella Castillo, Gilbert Nathaniel Briseno, Christian Mendoza, and Gabriel Mendoza. He is also survived by his great-grandchild, Julian Thomas Acosta, two more daughters and four siblings.
Juan was preceded in death by his son, Gustavo Mendoza Jr., and by his wife, Dinora Ramirez Mendoza.
Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, TX 78521, on August 6, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
A Funeral Service will take place at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, TX 78521, on August 7, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
A Burial will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, TX 78521, on August 7, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
