He served his country in the United States Army for 20 years. His 20 year career in the US Army fostered a love for adventurous travel, whether it was climbing mountains in the Rockies or snorkeling in the Caribbean. A love for music led him to start buying and selling record albums, a business that grew from a stand in the flea market to Juan's Music and Collectibles on Palm Blvd.
He is preceded in death by his father, Arturo Garcia Sr.
Juan is survived by his loving wife, Dora Garcia; son, Juan A. Garcia, Jr.; daughters, Melissa Garcia Ellis (Paul), Myra Garcia (Tomas John), Nancy Garcia Peron (Robert); grandchildren, Ayden J. Garcia, Alexis A. Garcia, Sean P. Ellis, James A. Peron, Lydia E. Peron, Edna J. Armer and Tamatha F. Armer; mother, Estela Marroquin; brothers, Arturo Garcia (Dolores), Mario Garcia (Patricia), Jose Angel Garcia, sisters, Olivia Garcia, Rosa Garcia Rodriguez (Ignacio), Maria Elena Garcia, Gloria De La Garza (Humberto) and Maria Blanco.
Visitation will be held from 1pm to 10pm with a prayer service at 7pm Monday, November 12, 2018 at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista. Chapel service will be held at 11am Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista with committal service to follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Reymundo Moya Jr., Robert Garcia, Julio Estrella, Javier Hernandez, Luis Garcia and Tony Villarreal III.
