

Lily was born in Brownsville, Texas on November 13, 1928 to Felix and Paulita Zamudio. Her enthusiasm and zest for life showed not only in her work but also in her community and civic involvement. Lily was a dedicated and valued employee of The Vogue Ladies Wear for over 46 years. Among her many accomplishments in life were having served three years as president of the Pan American Golf Association Women’s Auxiliary, three years as president of the Brownsville Amigos del Valle Members Council, two years as a member of Brownsville Citizens Advisory Committee, and lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign War Auxiliary, having also served in the capacity of board member for a time. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and had served as a coordinator for the Brownsville Our Lady of Schoenstatt Apostolic Movement. She also coordinated the recitation of the holy rosary at the Villa del Sol for 14 years. Lily also served as a volunteer at the San Benito Amigos del Valle Center for a number of years. Three years as president of the Brownsville American Legion Auxiliary afforded her the opportunity to be instrumental in helping raise funds for the new American Legion John Hanson Post 43 building. She was an avid fundraiser for many worthy causes which usually benefitted the needy and elderly in Brownsville. Lily was also a proud member of the Democratic Party.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband and love of her life, Jose F. Galvan Sr.; and her son, Santiago.
She is survived by her sons, Jose F. (Mary Ann), Cedar Park, TX. and Richard M. and his wife, Rebecca of Harlingen who both lovingly devoted many hours caring for her; daughter-in-law, Maria Magdalena (Santiago*) of Friendswood, TX; brother, Ben Zamudio of Brownsville; granddaughters, Lauri Roberts, Alicia M. Galvan, Brooke A. Reyna, and Heather D. Lucio; grandsons, Philip Galvan and John J. Galvan; great grandchildren, Noah, Ivy, Delainey, Andres, Rudy III, Alexandra, Matthew, Izabella, and Jacquelyn; and her brother-in-law, Francisco Galvan and his wife, Laura.
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 25, 2015 from 3:00p.m. to 10:00p.m. with a Rosary to be conducted at 7:00p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista.
Funeral Service will be held Friday, June 26, 2015 at 9:00a.m. at Immaculate Conception Cathedral (1218 E. Jefferson), followed by internment at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Serving as Pallbearers will be John J. Galvan, Philip Galvan, James (Chito) Solomon, Eliseo Davila, Jerry Zamudio, and Jess Roberts.
Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Catholic Daughters of America Sacred Heart of Mary #2448, Senator Eddie Lucio Jr., American Legion Post #43, VFW Post #2035, Tony Briseño, and Lino Zamudio.
