

Mr. Luis Barrientos a long-time resident of Brownsville, Texas passed away on April 3, 2011. Mr. Barrientos was born in Cruillas, Tamaulipas, Mexico on June 22, 1929 to Mr. Guadalupe Barrientos and Juanita Leal.
He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, three brothers; Jose, Narciso and Melchor Barrientos; one sister, Crisogona Barrientos-Hernandez, one son; Jose Manuel Barrientos and one granddaughter, Maria del Jesus Barrientez.
Mr. Barrientos is survived by his loving wife Maria Antonia Guajardo-Barrientos of 62 years; daughters, Maria Elena Barrientos-Villegas ( David) from Houston, Texas, Irma Barrientos-Carmona (Marco Antonio) from Brownsville, Texas, Veronica Ann Barrientos-Castillo (Ricardo)from Brownsville, Texas; sons Juan Luis (Juanita) Barrientez and Carlos Barrientos all from Brownsville, Texas. He is also survived by many grandchildren; Luis Antonio Carmona, from Brownsville, Texas, Jessica Fuller ( John) from Harlingen, Texas, Maricela , Maribel Barrientos from Houston, Texas, Johnny (Cristina) Barrientez from Houston, Texas, Mary Sue Mireles (Adrian)from Brownsville, Texas, Nicolas and Ricardo Castillo from Brownsville, Texas and Crystal and Jose Barrientos, Jr. from Houston, Texas, Cindy and Albert Serna from Houston, Texas.
He is also survived by his sisters; Guadalupe Barrientos Leal (Santiago Berlanga Sosa) from Jimenez, Tamaulipas, Mexico, Socorro Barrientos Leal (Valentin Jimenez), from Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas, Mexico, and Maria de los Angeles Barrientos-Saldivar ( Jose Saldivar) from Kalamazoo, Michigan. Mr. Luis Barrientos, is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.
Mr. Luis Barrientos worked at the Port of Brownsville for 40 years. He was an avid deer hunter, fisherman and enjoyed bowling. He had a very strong work ethic, believed in being honest and was very responsible. He was also very proud of having become an American Citizen. Prior to becoming ill he enjoyed driving to the Virgen de San Juan Cathedral.
The family would like to thank the Valley Baptist Hospital/Brownsville doctors and nursing staff for the care and love provided to Mr. Luis Barrientos.
Visitation will be held from 3 pm till 10 pm on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 with a rosary at 7 pm at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista.
Chapel Service will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista.
A Private family memorial service for cremation will be held at a later date as per Mr. Barrientos wishes.
