With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Luis C. Ibarra on the 12th of January 2025 at the age of 86. Luis was a kind, humble, and devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose life was a testament to love, service, and quiet strength.
Born on November 22, 1938, in Mexico City, Luis moved to the United States at the age of 13. He answered the call to serve his country by joining the Air Force and serving with honor and dedication for 20 years. He earned the respect of his peers and the gratitude of his country for his service during the Vietnam War. His fearlessness also earned him the opportunity to assist the Army Special Forces in Vietnam. After his military service, Luis focused on gaining a college degree and learning all aspects of managing a small business which resulted in managing several laundromats and owning his own businesses years later.
He always instilled the importance of humility, hard work, and kindness in his children and demonstrated these characteristics through donations to charity or individuals who entered his place of business in need, such as offering to pay someone to sweep the front porch of the laundromat.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Blanca Ibarra, with whom he shared 33 years of marriage as well as his children, Carlos Salinas, Patricia D. Castillo, Jesse Castillo (son-in-law), Araceli Causey, Gregory Causey (son-in-law), and two granddaughters, Mariana L. Corona and Katherine Castillo.
