Lydia Gonzales Mata was the daughter of the late Juan Gonzales and Isabella Coronado. She was born on October 26, 1928 and passed away on July 15, 2020 at 91 years old in Brownsville, Texas. She is preceded in death by her late husband Adan Mata; brothers and sisters Juana Gonzales Cruz, Maria G. Gonzales Castro, Mauro Gonzales; step-brother Carlos Alvarez; and children Juan Jose Mata, Martin Mata and Maria Ofelia Mata.
Lydia Gonzales Mata is survived by her children Adan Mata Jr., Evangelina Mata Rivera, Raquel Mata Lopez, Elvira Mata Martinez, Raul Mata and numerous daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was an active member at Christ the King Catholic church for many years. She loved cooking traditional Mexican foods such as tamales and baking pan dulce for her family. She lovingly served these delicious foods with her homemade tea on the side. Her sweet memories will be cherished forever.
Lydia Gonzales Mata's pallbearers will be her beloved family.
