

Preceded in death by his parents Gumecindo Gomez, Amparo Garcia Gomez, his wife Amelia Gomez, his brother Tomas Gomez, his daughters Rita Gomez Lopez, and Amparo Gomez Lopez, his sisters Hilaria Gomez Garcia, Guadalupe Gomez Cruz, Maria Gomez Garza, and Rosa Gomez Villarreal and grandson Steven Gomez. Left to cherish his memory are his three sons Manuel (Rosie) Gomez, Gaspar (Mark) Gomez, Melchor (Alma) Gomez, daughter Cruz G. Rynazewski, his grand-kids, Denise Lopez, Felipe Lopez, David Gomez, Jose Gomez, Veronica Gomez, Rudy Gomez, and numerous great grand-children and great, great-grandchildren. He participated in Brownsville's first Charro Days Parade, he served as a Merchant Marine in WWII, where they delivered supplies to the Navy Carriers at sea. He retired from the City of Brownsville, was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan. Serving as his pallbearers: Veronica Gomez, Denise Lopez, Manuel Gomez, Melchor Gomez, Rudy Gomez, Joe Guerrero, and David Gomez. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 15th, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. With a Rosary at 7:00 p.m at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista. Church Service will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brownsville, TX on Tuesday at 10am following a committal service at 11am at Buena Vista Burial Park.
