

Manuel Liendo, born August 28, 1934, in Brownsville, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2025, leaving a legacy of dedication, service, and love. Manuel was a man who devoted his life to his community, his family, and his faith, and his passing marks the end of an era for all who knew him.
Manuel served his country with honor in the United States Army. After his military service, he served in the National Guard and spent 29 years as a firefighter in Brownsville, Texas.
He was a faithful member of the Immaculate Conception Church, where his strong faith guided him throughout his life. He found peace in his belief and was an example of devotion to all who shared his spiritual journey.
Manuel was married to his beloved wife, Nora Montalvo-Liendo, for 34 years. They shared a life full of love, laughter, and mutual support. He is also survived by his stepsons, Gabriel Carrizales (Maria) and Tony Joe Carrizales (Michelle), as well as his step-grandchildren. His legacy continues through his nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews, including Anastacio Leal, Jr., Graciela Leal, Yolanda Rodriguez (Manuel), Hector Leal (Maria Elena), Victor Leal (Yolanda) and Joel Leal.
Manuel was preceded in death by his father, Manuel Liendo Sr., his mother, Julia Galvan Liendo, his sisters Elvira Liendo Leal, Guadalupe Liendo, Cleotilde Gonzalez, his brother Victor Liendo, niece Mary Ann Juarez, and his beloved pet companion, Boss Liendo, who was by his side for many years. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, and his passing marks the end of a remarkable lineage.
Manuel was a quiet but steadfast presence throughout his life, never seeking attention but always there for those who needed him. His hard work, unwavering integrity, and loving heart left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered. He may be gone, but the example he set and the memories he created will live on forever in the hearts of his loved ones and the countless lives he touched.
Manuel, your legacy will continue to inspire and guide us. You were a servant, a protector, a father figure to many, and a faithful friend. Rest in peace, knowing that you made this world a better place and that your memory will never fade.
In lieu of floral arrangements, contributions in his memory may be made to Friendship of Women, Inc., a cause he faithfully supported.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at 9:00 am, followed by an interment at 10:00 am at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
