Maria R Avalos

She was member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. Avid gardener, enjoyed visiting friends and family. Mother and grandmother to all. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Mrs. Avalos is preceded in death by her parents Emilio Martinez and Ambrosia Rodriguez; brothers, Guadalupe Rodriguez and Augustin Rodriguez.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Simon Avalos; sons, Guadalupe (Lydia) Avalos of Brownsville, Pablo (Lisa) Avalos of Georgia; daughters, Andrea (Oscar) Cerda of Florida, Maria Cristina (Gabriel) Gonzalez of Brownsville, Norma (Jaime) Mata of San Benito; 16 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; Siblings, Eleoncio Rodriguez, Emilio Rodriguez, Virginia Rodriguez, Juana Flores; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 10am to 9pm with a holy rosary at 7:30pm on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista.

A Mass will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Our Lady of Good Counsel at 1055 Military Hwy. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Serving as pallbearers will be Pablo Avalos, Guadalupe Avalos, Derrick Avalos, Bryan Avalos, Joshua Cerda and Angel Mata.
