Maria del Carmen Martinez, 73, of Brownsville, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2026. She was born on April 6, 1953, in Brownsville, where she spent her life surrounded by family, friends, and a community she cherished.
Maria was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her loving daughters, Lindsay Gonzalez (Rogelio Gonzalez Jr.) and Amanda Martinez (Jorge Silva). She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Lauren Samano, Victoria Silva, Iker Gonzalez, and Jayden Silva, who brought immense joy and pride to her life. She is also survived by her siblings: Frank “Rocky” Villarreal; Janie Castillo (Sam); Roberto Trevino (Sylvia); and Teresa Trevino, along with numerous nieces and nephews who will forever hold her memory close.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Victor Martinez Jr.; her mother, Teresa Espinosa; and her father, Uvalde Trevino.
Maria dedicated 30 years of her career to IBC, where she built lasting relationships and was respected for her hard work and commitment. Outside of work, she found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed playing slot machines, lotería, and bingo, and loved relaxing with her favorite Hallmark movies and episodes of Law & Order. One of her favorite pastimes was listening to her beloved song, “The Chair” by George Strait. Above all, Maria treasured time spent with her family, especially watching her grandchildren play sports and celebrating their accomplishments.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. that evening. All services at the funeral home will conclude Sunday.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 27, 2026, at 9:00 a.m., with guests asked to meet at the church.
Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Pallbearers will be Robert Trevino, Rogelio Gonzalez, Jorge Silva, Israel Vasquez, Bruno Rodriguez, and Chris Saenz.
Maria will be remembered for her warmth, her love of family, and the joy she brought to those around her. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
