Maria Isabel Hernandez ( chavela) was born June 09,1945 in Brownsville TX to Lorenzo and Alicia Ybarra. She attended school up to the 8th grade. Her life interest was mariachi music, family, and devoted most of her time caring for family and friends. Her charm and wittiness brought a smile to those that had the privilege of knowing her. Chavela was known for her beautiful green/ blue eyes that pierced your should with kindness and much love.
Maria is survived by her son Juan A. Gaucin; her daughter Alejandra G. Avila; her daughter Maria Isabel Gaucin; her son Mario Gaucin; and her son Miguel A. Gaucin; her sister Maria Claire, her sister Hortencia Lara and her brother Lorenzo Ybarra Jr..
Maria was preceded in death by her late husband Leoncio Alfonso Gaucin †; her daughter Karina Gaucin †; her father Lorenzo Ybarra † and her mother Alicia C. Ybarra †; her sister Julia Aldane †.
Mr. Hernandez also left behind 15 nieces and nephews, 17 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren to cherish her memory.
A visitation for Maria will be held Wednesday, March 6, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Rosary at 7:00pm at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521. A church service will occur Thursday, March 7, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St Luke Catholic Church, 2800 Rockwell Dr, Brownsville, Texas 78521. Followed by a burial on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521.
