Maria Del Rosario Mendoza passed away peacefully on February 9th, 2025, surrounded by the love of her cherished family. She was born on October 7th, 1938, to Gumercindo Perez and Guadalupe Guerra in Matamoros Tamaulipas Mexico, where her journey of love, resilience, and devotion began.
Maria was a beloved wife, mother, widow, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend—a beacon of kindness, generosity, and unwavering strength. She faced life’s challenges with grace and determination, having to play both roles of mother and father at an early age after the passing of her husband. Her heart was filled with faith, and she was a devoted Christian who found great purpose in giving back, supporting causes close to her heart, including the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
A gifted teacher in the art of life, Maria shared her wisdom generously—especially in the kitchen, where her beloved tamales brought warmth and joy to many. Her hands were never idle; she found solace in crocheting intricate blankets, slippers, hats, and scarves, each piece woven with love. She had a love for her plants, she nurtured them with the same care and tenderness she showed to those around her, ensuring her garden remained lush and vibrant.
Maria Mendoza is survived by her four adult children Juan Miguel Mendoza, Jose C. (Paula) Mendoza , Maribel M. Castillo, Julio Cesar (Aurora) Mendoza, along with extended family and dear friends who will forever hold her in their hearts. She was preceded in death by her husband Juan de Dios Mendoza and son David Mendoza.
