

Mario Bernardo Flores, 93, passed away on July 7, 2026. Born on August 20, 1932, Mario’s life carried the steady strength of a man who understood duty, endurance, and the quiet meaning of showing up—again and again—for the people and principles he held close. A military veteran, he served in the Korean War, a chapter of his life that reflected a deep sense of resolve and steadfast commitment. He was a resident of Brownsville, Texas.
Mario is survived by his life partner, Elia Vega Flores; his sons, Mario A. Flores, Jose Luis Flores Vega, Alberto Flores Vega, Carlos Flores Vega, Gustavo Flores Vega, Orlando Flores Vega, Daniel Flores Vega, Mario Flores Melendez, Gustavo Flores Melendez, and Arturo B. Flores Melendez; and his daughters, Judith Flores Ramirez Vega, Liliana Flores Melendez, Maria Isabel Flores Melendez, and Alina Flores Melendez.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Josefina Salinas; his father, Antonio Flores; his sister, Manuela F. Gonzalez; his son, Fernando Flores Melendez; and his step-son, Guadalupe Vega.
Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, TX 78521, on July 10, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 10:00 pm. A Rosary will be held there on July 10, 2026, at 7:00 pm.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church - Brownsville, 1200 Lincoln St, Brownsville, TX 78521, on July 11, 2026, at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, TX 78521, on July 11, 2026, at 1:00 pm.
