Marlin was a man with a heart of gold whose greatest joy in life was his family. He loved deeply and selflessly, always putting his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren before himself. To those who knew him, he was the kind of man you could always count on, our handyman, our problem solver, and our go-to guy for just about everything.
He never met a stranger. Whether sitting outside enjoying the day or simply passing time in the neighborhood, people were naturally drawn to him. Friends and neighbors would stop to chat, laugh, and enjoy his company because he made everyone feel welcome.
Fishing was his favorite pastime and one of the simple joys that brought him peace. He also had a well-known love for peanut butter and bananas, a favorite snack that became one of the many little things his family will always smile remembering.
More than anything, he will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and the love he gave so freely. His presence brought comfort, strength, and warmth to everyone around him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
Marlin is survived by his beloved wife, Olga Martinez; his children, Brenda Rangel (Humberto), Melissa Lerma (Richard), Emily Garcia (Guadalupe), Irene Martinez, Marlin E. Martinez Jr. (Kassandra), and Michael Martinez; and by 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Marcy Martinez; his father, Gregorio Martinez; and his mother, Manuela Martinez.
Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Rose Lawn, 4464 Old Port Isabel Rd, Brownsville, TX 78526, US, on May 31, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm, with a Rosary at 7:00 pm.
