Martin Cabrera, 58, passed away on September 2, 2026. Born on January 20, 1968, Martin lived with steady purpose and a generous heart, meeting each day with courage, faith, and a quiet wisdom that guided those who knew him. He was deeply cherished and beloved, remembered for the gentle strength of his character, his honest way of living, and the thoughtful kindness he extended so naturally to others.
A hard-working and devoted family man, Martin was the family owner and operator of American Taxi in Brownsville, TX since the early 90’s—work he carried with pride and consistency, serving his community with compassion and reliability. Beyond the long hours, his spirit remained bright: Martin lived life to the fullest, always moving forward, and he was known for putting a smile on everyone’s face. His humor—easy, warm, and unmistakably his—often arrived with a joke, a grin, and his familiar “Arre!”
Martin also found joy in the simple, meaningful moments, especially grilling and sharing time with the people he loved. In these everyday gatherings, his kind-hearted nature and faithful devotion were most clearly felt—through his presence, his care, and the way he made others feel seen and valued. His life was an inspiration not because he sought attention, but because he consistently chose goodness, generosity, and bravery in the ways that mattered most.
Martin is survived by his wife, Sandra Cabrera; his son, Manuel Cabrera; his daughter, Kassandra Cabrera; his son in law, Alberto Solis; his granddaughter, Abigail P. Solis; his mother, Juanita Cabrera; his sister, Laura Gutierrez; and his brother in law, Arturo Gutierrez. Martin was preceded in death by his father, Enafael Cabrera Zuniga. Also leaves behind nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues.
Burial Of Ashes will be held at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4464 Old Port Isabel Rd, Brownsville, TX 78526, on September 18, 2026 at 12:00 pm.
Martin will be remembered with deep respect and enduring love—for his steadfast work ethic, his gentle compassion, his honest and thoughtful ways, and the brave, adventurous spirit with which he embraced life.
