Miguel Angel Alvear, 53, passed away on April 26, 2026. Born on September 28, 1972, Miguel will be remembered with deep respect and enduring love by all who had the privilege to know him. A devoted family man, his life was marked by steady commitment, quiet strength, and a reassuring presence that brought comfort to those around him. He made his home in Brownsville, Texas, where his memory will remain a lasting part of the lives he touched.
A proud patriot, Miguel honorably served in the United States Army, carrying with him a deep respect for his country throughout his life. He was a man who cherished every moment spent with those he loved, especially his sons, whom he loved unconditionally and took immense pride in. Miguel found joy in life’s simple pleasures—time spent in nature, hunting, fishing, and sharing stories with family and friends. Whether cheering on his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys, or preparing meals for loved ones, he brought warmth, generosity, and a welcoming spirit to every gathering.
Miguel is survived by his loving mother, Maria Luisa Alvear; his devoted wife, Beatriz Garza; and his cherished sons, Christian Alvear and Santiago Alvear. He is also survived by his brothers, Jose Luis Alvear (Rosie), Gerardo Alvear (Cynthia), and Cayetano Alvear Jr. (Dalila); and his sister, Magdalena Alvear Retta (Arnulfo).
He also leaves behind numerous beloved nephews and nieces: Joshua Alvear, Emily Rodriguez, Ismael Rodriguez, Crystal Rodriguez, Iliana Alvear, Mateo Alvear, Joel Alvear, Josie Alvear, Sebastian Alvear, Carmabell Alvear, Emiliano Alvear, Axel Retta, Itzel Retta, and Paulina Retta.
Miguel was preceded in death by his father, Cayetano Alvear Sr.; his maternal grandparents, Enrique and Celia Ramirez; and his paternal grandparents, Agapito and Maria del Refugio Alvear.
Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista, 125 McDavitt Blvd, Brownsville, TX 78521, on May 3, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. that evening.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Eugene de Mazenod Catholic Church, 5409 Austin Rd, Brownsville, TX 78521, on May 4, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista at 1:30 p.m.
Active pallbearers will be Christian Alvear, Santiago Alvear, Jose Luis Alvear, Gerardo Alvear, Cayetano Alvear Jr., Joshua Alvear, and Jose Alvear.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ismael Rodriguez, Mateo Alvear, Joel Alvear, Sebastian Alvear, Emiliano Alvear, and Axel Retta.
Miguel will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always honored.
