Odilia Gonzales "Odie", as she was known to those closest to her, was born to Maria "Venos" Rodriguez and Alfonso Gallegos on August 27, 1945. She was a proud graduate of Brownsville High School and an active member of the Class of '63. For most of her adult life, Odilia was "All Shook Up" by Elvis Presley and collected his memorabilia.
When Odilia wasn't surrounded by her family, she was fanatically cheering on the Dallas Cowboys or passionately serving the Serra Club. Whatever Odilia set to do, she did with love on her mind, a smile on her face, and twinkle in her eye.
Odilia was preceded in death by her parents Alfonso and Maria Gallegos. She is survived by her husband, Guadalupe E. Gonzales Jr., her daughter, Christie Gonzales (Mark), her sons, Vicente Gonzales, Alejandro Gonzales (Zoe), and Guadalupe Gonzales III, her grandchildren, her great-grand children, her two brothers and six sisters.
Odilia will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 3, 2018 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Divine Mercy Catholic Church located at 650 E. Alton Gloor Blvd with a Rosary at 7 p.m. Mass will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 3 p.m. at Saint Luke's Catholic Church. The Mass is open to all who cherished Odilia's full life.
