Otila S. Delgado, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025, in Olmito, Texas, at the age of 91. Born on December 13, 1933, in Brownsville, Texas, Otila lived a life full of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family.
A longtime resident of Port Isabel, Otila shared a beautiful life with her late husband, Desiderio H. Delgado. Together, they built a loving home filled with warmth and joy. Desiderio, who spoiled her endlessly and gave her everything her heart desired, remained the love of her life until his passing. Their love was the foundation of the family they nurtured and cherished.
She is survived by her children Desi Delgado Jr., Gilberto Delgado, and daughter Lucy Delgado Foster, her son-in-law Robert Foster. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren Eva Dina Delgado, Amanda Delgado, Mark Delgado, and Barry Foster, and her precious great-granddaughter, Isla.
Otila was preceded in death by her beloved husband Desiderio H. Delgado, her mother Raquel Jasso, and her brother Gilberto Jasso Arizmendez.
Otila had a radiant spirit and a big heart. She loved to dance, shop (especially at the dollar store), and listen to the radio, always with a smile on her face. She was a friendly soul who never met a stranger, always eager to strike up a conversation—especially on the phone, her favorite lifeline to friends and family.
She took immense pride in her yard and found peace in watering her garden, often surrounded by blooming flowers and the sun’s warmth—a reflection of the love she cultivated in her life. Her presence was a gift, her laughter infectious, and her love unconditional.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 26, from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM in Chapel of Angels, at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista, 125 McDavitt Blvd, Brownsville, TX 78521. A Funeral Mass in celebration of Otila’s life will take place at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 27, at Our Lady, Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S Longoria St, Port Isabel, TX 78578. Interment will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Otila S. Delgado will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and the joy she brought into every room she entered. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Rest in peace, Mom. You danced through life with grace—may you now dance among the stars.
